- LOCAL ATTRACTIONS -
Casa Fede is ideally located for exploring Tuscany and it's many tourist attractions. Located close to larger cities such as Florence, Pisa and Siena but also smaller, local villages and towns including Panzano offer a wide range of activities and opportunities for sight seeing. We have put together a brief guide of things to do in the region.
GREVE IN CHIANTI
Greve in Chianti is the nearest town to Casa Fede. 7mins by car or a 30min walk will get you there. Sitting in the Val di Greve, it is named for the small, fast-flowing river that runs through it.
A Franciscan monastery is still at the heart of the old part of the city, as is the triangular main piazza, where a market has been running more or less continuously for centuries serving the nearby castle communities and hamlets. The piazza is fronted by numerous medieval aged buildings, including the 11th century Chiesa Santa Croce which was rebuilt in 1325 after being burned to the ground. This church houses a sculpture by Antionio Fede, who built Casa Fede.
Florence is one of Italy's most famous renaissnace cities. As the capital of Tuscany it is the largest city in the region and only 35 minutes drive from Casa Fede. Home to Michelangelo's statue David it has been attracting art lovers for hundreds of years. With various musuems and art galleries most noteably The Uffizi Gallery, housing Botticelli's "Birth of Venus", there is plenty to see.
